My Barclays Platinum Visa’s offer for free ATM withdrawal ended in Aug. Used this card solely for taking out cash whilst abroad. I also have Curve Metal but prefer to have 2 cards for ATMs in case one doesn’t work. Barclays’ app is offering a switch to Rewards Visa Card with free ATM withdrawal abroad.
Are there any other credit cards which offer Fx/Cash Advance Fee free cash withdrawals abroad as could potentially take a 6 months break from Barclaycard to be eligible for any SUB that turns up? Any DP on Barclay’s Rewards CC to report?
Mainstream, Halifax Clarity will give you Fx/cash advance fee free cash withdrawals abroad, but I think will charge you a bit of daily interest. Other than that I think you’ve only got the usual debit card options…Revolut, Starling, Chase etc.
Yes – if you have Curve plus (pre-loaded) Revolut, that should be fine, though of course many ATMs abroad charge their own fees these days so I try to avoid them if at all possible!
If it’s just a backup card, why worry? Any debit card will do. Just don’t use it unless you actually break/loose your Curve 🙂
I carry Curve Metal (first choice for cash machines), but also usually pack Starling and Chase. There’s no rewards on an ATM from the latter two, of course. It’s pretty much impossible to get rewards on a cash withdrawal, other than Curve with a suitably compliant card behind it.
