I still pay monthly but I suspect your question is more do they still allow you to.

Worth a phone call. Perhaps follow up a no with you’d like to cancel and see what they say about switching to monthly.

I asked Amex chat about this about 6 months ago. They denied vehemently that such a set up even existed so I told them to cancel the card and they promptly offered me 50k MR points not to!
