Just got the platinum card. Understand I need to opt in to get the dining credit, which runs til the end of December. Opt in again start of Jan.
I wont be travelling abroad until the new year, obviously if I opted in to the abroad offer I would forfeit the credit. Does anyone know, if I dont opt in until January, if I will then be able to get the twice a year credit on the next cycle whenever that is?
Yes, you will get the twice a year credit, but you can just opt into it now anyway, it does not matter if you do not use it and it should roll over anyway on Jan 1st, mine always has.
Amex has said it will be necessary to opt in again for the new style 2025 dining credits.
Rob et al, would you / anyone be able to shed some lights on this please?
Booked restaurant to use (£100) abroad dining credit for tomorrow, only to be told via Chat this morning that the 2025 dining credit can only be added (available) from 7th Jan. This is really strange or am I missing anything? Obviously annoying but need to cancel the reservation.
https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/benefits/dining/the-platinum-card/ does state ‘from early January 2025…..’
Chat is correct. Registration will open (unpublicised) on the 7th with an email blast on 13th.
Thanks Rob. Moved the reservation to later this month.
Rob, your article said 1st Jan, did Amex have this in the press release. It’s a bit of a pain as I booked also in Berlin while I am here.

Amex told us last week it would be 7th January but banned us from writing about it, sorry. I have no idea why this is meant to be top secret but under FCA rules must do what I am told.
In theory I can’t even cover it on the 7th even though it will show in your account for registration and must wait until 13th.
I can’t find anywhere other than their online chat where 7th Jan is mentioned.
Their chat just gave me a 1000 points to stop me being grumpy.

I would have thought FCA rules mean they must do what they said! Thus any delay they wouldn’t want to publicise unless they could give reasonable notice.
I specifically asked and was told on Monday in the Amex chat that the credit would renew today at £150. They have now given me 2000 reward points to apologise and confirmed the position is as stated on this thread. Not very impressive.
I also tried to enrol through chat this morning.
I kind of went out of my way to stay in Bangkok over new year so I could use the £150 then use the £100 after new year.
So it is a little bit annoying with the £100 credit likely to go unused now
@scaz same here as we are on the way to PNH but will use the credit once back in BKK later this month. Quite annoying.
Wondered why it wasn’t showing in the offers!
Hi Rob, what exactly does this mean? I have a reservation abroad I was hoping to use my credit for on 12th January. Amex Customer Service said this evening they don’t know when emails will be sent / were generally unhelpful.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Not sure what is unclear about what I wrote.
Amex Dining (NB not Platinum Dining Credit) has been announced as returning on the 7th: https://amexdining.com/20/home

Will it be available from the 7th to use or the 13th when the email comes out? Thanks
Both the dine local and dine overseas have as Rob promised come live today. Registered for both.
Cannot get the list of participating places to show on Google on apple phone or on safari. Link opens to a blank page. BA must be doing their IT.
Any suggestions please
Have the terms changed? I see it says it excludes the purchase of vouchers? Has it always said this? I know I have seen information here that this was a valid use of credit

BA?
The dining credit list changes every now and then. Check from there.
20% dining discount map is different. Don’t rely on it on small screen. Or use the search which works okay.
