Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Pending Avios after cancellation?

  • 32 posts

    Hi Everyone,

I want to cancel my Barclays Avios card. I have some pending Avios. My monthly fee is due in a few days. Avios will not post in a few weeks.

Is it possible to avoid paying the monthly fee but keep the Avios?

If I cancel now, what happens to my pending Avios, do I still get them in a few weeks?

    Thanks!

I cancelled my card today as there was no downgrade option.

My Avios are pending until tomorrow. Barclays confirmed that even with the card closed my Avios will post to my BAEC. They further confirmed that the Avios due from this months spend would post on 4 October (second working day). My statement (and fee) were also due tomorrow so I was keen to get it all tied up without being forced to pay another £20.

I can confirm that my 3 month date was today and I cancelled BEFORE it. My pending Avios have hit the BAEC this morning. The ones for the last month have been moved into pending, to be paid on 4 Oct.

Barclays cancelled my card halfway through the spend £3k period. I was halfway there to 55k avios bonus (includes the tpg referral bonus) and they decided my proof of income was not accepted. Nothing but automated emails. 4 attempts and they say name and address still not visible. It’s clearly printed on the submitted pdfs. Call centre just said retry but they have now closed the account. Barclays closed our local branch 6 months ago so was unable to get to a branch in working hours. Will let you know what happens to the fees paid and avios received and subsequent complaint. Any predictions? Oddly Amex had no problem with my custom and have clean credit record.
