I just booked a last-minute trip to Paris for the Olympics! I’m looking for a nice spot for breakfast where I can use my Amex Platinum dining credit. Any recommendations for a good place?

I like the Café Marly on the edge of the Louvre, great setting indoors and outdoors and although breakfast isn’t really a French forte, they do fairly well. How accessible that is during the Olympics, I don’t know!

Take a look at Le Train Bleu (inside the Gare De Lyon), it’s on the Amex dining credit list and has options for a set breakfast or lunch that would fit the bill nicely.

It’s a very atmospheric, grand, old fashioned experience.

A city I’ve always struggled to like even though it’s one I’ve visited the most over the last few years, for mainly sporting reasons.

However, I do like the republique area of the city perhaps it might help if you mention which area you’re staying in?

The French Bastards bakery is highly recommended in general.

Had breakfast at Le Train Bleu with the family in May. Indeed a stunning room and breakfast was surprisingly reasonable. We didn’t hold back and it was about £90 for the 4 of us. Note you can’t make reservations and whilst we got a table no problem at 8.30am or so, by 9.30am (Saturday morning but looked like a tourist crowd) there was quite a wait. Only a small part of the restaurant was open for service.
