So from what I can see, on an (almost) daily basis there appear to currently be options of:
– London (BA)
– Madrid (Iberia)
– Barcelona (Vueling)
– Dublin (Aer Lingus)
Am I missing anywhere? Thanks
It’s slim pickings. I think Finnair also fly to HEL. Long haul you have Qatar and Aer Lingus (some One World benefits on the latter), and there used to be an AA flight to PHL but I don’t know if they still do this.
Neither Vueling and Aer Lingus are members of a One World. Of course all 4 are members of IAG
EI mat become one but not Vueling,
I think OP meant flights where you can use or earn avios and/or TPs rather than official OW members.
Apols – I should have been more specific… I was just focusing on what I could use Avios on really
(In my defence, I’d been using Google Flights and they group them all under the term ‘OneWorld’ 😆)
Also CX flies to Hong Kong albeit not daily, something like 3x a week?
Short haul doesn’t tend to be good value with avios because they are not RFS (apart from MAN-LHR), so the surcharges can work our nearly as much as a cash fare.
Long haul I think QR is probably the best option as regards availability, in J anyway. Of course this excludes using a 241 though. Technically these can now be used on Aer Lingus, however it is very rare to see business availability at all, especially from MAN.
Thanks folks – appreciate the info.
For background, we had specifically been contemplating a ‘medical’ holiday (paying for and utilising a private healthcare service abroad)
On paper, its most likely this would need to be done within school holidays so had been looking at some of the options for us in terms of countries we could get to, the costs associated etc as well as all the other considerations we would need to make such as the medical performance / standards of care etc etc
(Obviously a fine balance of cost / convenience / ‘what if things go wrong afterwards’ that we need to weigh up)
Based on the above, I’m thinking cash options are best for us as we can utilise LPL, BHX, EMA, MAN and some of the cheapo carriers are still a good option even in half term. Would’ve just been a bonus if I could use my Maroc status and / or RFS
Not sure BHX gives you any advantages over MAN to be honest.
The same carriers tend to be more expensive there.
Why is East Midlands on your list? Is your destination likely to be in eastern Europe or something?

re: EMA – not sure yet – weighing up all the options (so not just flights) so trying to look at the biggest picture and we narrow down on something from there.
Tbh, BHX just is just another option for flexibility without us knowing more specifics (a 1am arrival time from a Manchester departure, vs. maybe a 11pm arrival time from BHX may be worth the extra ££) – main point though is that they’re all really accessible for us 🙂
You can pay 2.99 on flightconnections.com and see all flights from MAN filtered by alliance.
Or you can go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_Airport and look at all the routes and filter manually yourself. Wikipedia is great for showing all direct routes from an airport
