I got an email yesterday saying one key cash is 6% until well into next year.
This is a big help, especially if it includes current bookings.
This is now closer to the 9.1% like the old scheme.
Well yes it’s closer but it’s still 35% lower
Personally, I would prefer this than having a load of low value room values.
I book a lot for work but prefer to use the money for a nice special iconic hotel.
It works well for me, but it doesn’t work for leisure travellers
No change for me, so clearly targetted at people they think are vulnerable to walking.
I just logged into my hotels.com account and was surprised to see that I can now earn 6% OneKey cash on ALL bookings. Previously, even as a Platinum member (sounds more prestigious than it actually is), the earnings rate was a miserly 2% on the majority of bookings and the 6% was only earned on VIP Properties which I don’t often book.
I didn’t receive any email from them about this change and I only found out about it today by logging into my account. Anyway, they have decided to increase the earnings rate for me so I’m happy about that. It’s still nowhere near as good as the old Rewards Night scheme though.
Over the past few months, I have spoken to hotels.com several times to complain bitterly about the new scheme. As a loyal hotels.com customer for many years, I told them in no uncertain terms that I would not be remaining loyal to them any more so maybe that that did the trick.
As Rob said, maybe they are targeting people like me who are vulnerable to walking and I’m definitely am one of those!
