Oman Air – status match opportunity – oneworld (not yet)

With Oman air joining Oneworld I thought it was worth giving a shot with a status match. My gold from Lufthans has been matched to gold in Oman air in 7 days’

All you have to do is send an email (Sindbad@omanair.com) with a screenshot of your recent status as well as some transactions.

What comes with gold at the present moment:
Two Upgrade Vouchers: You’ll receive two vouchers for free upgrades to Business Class. (However, you’ll only get these if you earn your status instead of matching it.)
50% bonus mileage
Lounge access: Access to Oman Air’s Business Class lounge in Muscat, with a guest, regardless of travelling class. Lounge access at other airports when travelling Oman Air.

I thought it was worth sharing. I am not expecting that Oman air will join Oneworld overnight but you never know.

Do you know if the match OW status? My IB status expires in March next year and wouldn’t mind trying in case they join OW soon. Do you need to take any flights with them?

I do not know, but you have got nothing to lose trying. You do not need to take any flights with them, all you need is flight activity on your IB account.

No doubt an opportunity may come along closer to / at the time but I don’t think I’ll be able to renew my Gold so I’ll take the chances now 🙂

I’ve been rejected for not meeting their ‘internal’ criteria… I expect its because I don’t have a history of travel related to their destinations (the examples I had in my account were all to the USA)
