Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Obtaining Diamond (from Gold via Amex Platinum)

  • 10 posts

    Hi All,

Question I cannot find an answer to anywhere. I was gold anyway, now gold via Amex Platinum, does this mean that I can now achieve diamond if I meet the criteria of gold to diamond I can still achieve diamond?

E.g. Gold requires 40 nights, and diamond requires 60 nights, therefore via amex platinum I only require 20 nights to hit diamond status?

    Cheers
    Doug

No. You need 60 nights for diamond.

I can’t decide if this system helps or hurts the hotels.

With free Gold, there is no way that I am going to do 60 nights for Diamond. It makes no sense.

If I could do 20 nights and get Diamond, on top of my free Gold, I would probably do it.

However, I’m sure that other people who DO get Diamond via 60 nights would cut back their Hilton stays if this method was brought it, using the extra 40 nights to earn status elsewhere ….

If true Diamonds were rewarded with Waldorf Astoria lounge access, that might nudge me. Similarly with Bonvoy and St Regis and Ritz Carlton clubs; if they granted access to those who grinded out 50 or 75 nights on stays rather than credit card gifted nights.
