Forums Other London life Nose of a TAP aircraft being transported the on eastbound M4 22/6

Not so much London Life I know, I’m got no idea where it was going, but I joined junction 13 on the Eastbound carriageway of the M4 around 12:35 on Thursday (22nd) and saw the nose of an aircraft being transported, when I passed it, it was painted with TAP.

I’ve no idea what type of aircraft it was, presumably a A330 or maybe even A343, it looked too big to be an A320 family nose…

Anyone else notice this at all ?

The direction of travel is one of the main routes towards HfP’s community most used airport LHR !

Breaking out some real av geek knowledge here! St Athans airport, about a mile away from Cardiff airport, has a major disassembly and scrapping company called E cube. It’s probably from there.

As for the aircraft, it’ll be an A330-300 or A340-300. They were withdrawn from service in 2019, probably haven’t found a buyer so are scrapping.

When I passed Cotswold Airpot recently there were a number of TAP aircraft awaiting dismantlement.
It is near J17 of M4

Yes, they retired a bunch of them at the start of Covid and were sent there for dismantling.

Cotswolds Airport is great. Similar to eCube at St Athans, they have Plane Reclaimers.
Well worth a drive – the B road next to it makes you come at it as a bit of a surprise, which is always good.
