Forums Other Destination advice North India and beach break Nov 25

I’m getting a bit booked down with this and would welcome some objective insight and ideas.

The plan is north India next November based on arriving at Delhi and spending around two weeks doing the usual big hitters.

Then I’m looking for about five days at the beach probably not on mainland India. I’ve ruled out Andamans, Zanzibar and eg Phuket area on the basis of the weather in November. OH has blackballed Maldives. Seychelles or Mauritius would be excellent, Muscat is also a possibility.

I’ve got 300k Avios to play with and a 241. Also happy to conisider some cash legs where there’s good benefits to be had from including these.

The simplest solution looks like London to Delhi, Delhi to Muscat (Oman Air or indirect with Qatar), and Muscat to London.

As we get a bit longer in the tooth simpler becomes more attractive.

The idea is to get the flight routes planned and booked where necessary now and then infill with hotels or maybe tour?? later.

    Any ideas/ alternatives welcomed!! The

Why not just go to Goa since you are already in India? I think you need to be a bit more special out what you are looking for in a beach destination.

BTW @Rob’s reviews of hotels in Oman are worth a read.

@masaccio, you’re right it may have been helpful to be more specific about beach time.

Snorkelling and swimming in warm water is high on the list, and my limited experience of the water off the Keralan coast is that it’s not a great snorkelling destination.

So Seychelles or Mauritius would be ideal, but I struggled to see reasonable routes from Delhi to do this nor to return to Delhi or directly back to London (flying out of LHR and returning to LGW is an end of trip hassle).

If anyone has a bright idea to get to Seychelles or Mauritius it would make me a very happy bunny. If not then it looks like Muscat on this occasion.

For direct BA options, Bengaluru and Bahrain have plenty of availability, if your first choice doesn’t work.

Who said Phuket has bad weather in November?

I was looking at 186mm rain in November https://www.audleytravel.com/thailand/best-time-to-visit#oct.
    I’ll reconsider.

    Hadn’t thought of Bahrain, thanks

It was the 186mm of rain in November that led me discount it. https://www.audleytravel.com/thailand/best-time-to-visit#oct. But maybe I should reconsider.

    Bengaluru and Bahrain, helpful thanks

Ah, snorkelling in India is pants. Snorkelling in reach of Delhi and onward to London then. Looking at direct flights from DEL on Flight Connections, I see Oman (Muscat as you pointed out) but Mauritius has flights Sunday and Thursday in November with Air Mauritius. Just under 8 hours and Google is showing 639 quid for business which sounds like a decent enough price.

I’d go Maldives personally, but then my OH loves those resorts.

Thanks @masaccio, I hadn’t seen the Delhi to Mauritius.

Spent a happy (not) few hours on the laptop this morning being regularly kicked out of BA site, but if I’ve understood the rules and GCM correctly it looks like a LHR to DEL and DOH to LHR should work as an open jaw on BA with a 241 voucher then infil with beach between these dates.
