Discuss today's stories:
Hi
I was a Virgin Flying Club member for a long time and switch my spend to BA about 8 years ago. With the BA changes, I have taken up the Flying Blue status match but also still have my existing Virgin number. I want to book a summer holiday. How do I go about managing getting the best long term points earn – do I use my Flying Blue Gold number or my old Virgin number?
Thanks in advance for the wisdom!
Best
Claudia
Effectively, you’re now part of two different SkyTeam schemes – Flying Blue and Flying Club. Fundamentally, the answer to your question depends on your circumstances, and whether you’ll find it easier to earn and retain in one scheme or the other (and, to a degree, burn, if you’re interested in doing that). Both can get you to SkyTeam Elite and SkyTeam Elite Plus status, but how you get there differs.
Flying Blue and Flying Club are, from memory, quite similar, in terms of how they operate, especially with earning. But, stick with one and run with it.

Thank you! I have Skyteam Elite Plus status from a BA status transfer but it’s not linked to my Virgin account. Any idea if/how one can link them?
Your SkyTeam Elite Plus status must be linked to a frequent flier scheme of some form – it can’t exist independently. Did you use the KLM match offer, or the Virgin match offer? You won’t get a match from, say, BAEC to SkyTeam Elite Plus (because that’s an airline status to an alliance status), but you will from airline status to airline status (e.g. BAEC Gold to VS Gold), and the airline status then confers alliance status.
