Virgin Cruises available with points – but certainly no bargains

160,000 points 7N in Med between May and Sept
280,000 points 14N Transatlantic Barcelona to Miami on Oct 27
320,000 points 16N Transatlantic Rome to Miami on Nov 28

    FLASH SALE = 120,000 May 12 or May 19 7N from Barcelona

    Came here to post this.

Cracking deal. Shame I’m not sure I can fit another cruise in this year!

Still a bargain at these rates.

I base all my cruises on £150 per night pp for a Balcony cabin including drinks package, tips and wi-fi (incl flights if needed)

The above Transatlantics are roughly £100 per night pp and then you have drinks and flights etc on top.

The 7N slightly more per night and the last-minute cruises slightly under £100/night

For me, they aren’t a bargain at all as I can have a choice of cruise lines and dates for the equivalent “spend”.

IF you have no need for a few hundred thousand points then it’s perhaps different.

Good spot! Will give it a miss this time. Was novel the first time around but even if it was 80,000 points again, I’d prefer banking the MR points for a long haul flight in J 🙂

Is anyone aware of the status match offers? I have been waiting for this to come around as couldn’t go last year (slightly disappointing its more points). On reading the threads a while ago i remember someone mentioning a status match with other cruise lines, for which you could get status with a hilton match.

RE the value on this, for me its still good. I have never been on a cruise so hard for me to put a value like others but when its 160k avios and £450 per person for business class to the Maldives for 10 and half hours, or a week on a cruise ship with everything bar alcohol included, its a no brainer.

    Regarding status match…

Up until the end of last year there was a wide open program that got hammered with people matching from anywhere. The popular route was matching MSC to a hotel program and then using the MCS to match on virgin to get “Deep Blue Extra”.

That stopped 1st Jan. However there was a brief 2 day status match last month that matched to a lesser field of play (not MSC) and was only available on new cruises and not existing bookings. The match gave you “Blue Extras” not Deep Blue..

Thanks @Roberto. Any advice on ways to extra freebies when I book? Platinum card holder so have a few hotel status levels but no airline status

Well you can still match your Hilton/Marriott to MSC cruises but at the moment you can’t match that to Virgin. There is no way of matching to Virgin from Hotels directly atm (or indeed from any other cruise line)…

As for offers on promos , we’ll they come and go. Sometimes it’s better to book via an agent rather than direct.

From what I can see currently there are not really any great add on offers on atm. My current two booking came with a shed load of on board spend, $1000 on our 10 day cruise this month and $600 for a 5 days one in September. Those offers seem to have been rowed back , however the prices are slightly softer this year compared to last I think so its swings and roundabouts.

Virgin did a Status Match for 3 days last week April 24th-26th – but you had to book a cruise in those 3 days.

It was a bizarrely useless promotion.

Redeemed my Virgin points, now waiting for access key to book – will be doing French Daze (hopefully) or Irresistible Med this month, so not very long to plan! For me its a great deal – will be my 7th Virgin Voyage so know I am getting excellent value for money. And still have plenty of points left

Got my access code this afternoon and have booked 14 day TA. Then this evening I have had another email from VR with a different access code. Tempting to give it a try as well!

Give it a go! Or give it away… *hint hint* 😉

Sorry Nike85 but Virgin have spotted their error and asked me what code I have used so they can cancel the other. Boo!

I matched HH to MCS to VV in June 2023, have just booked my 3rd cruise and can see the Deep Blue Extra benefits have been applied; apparently the status match is vaild until 2026 which seems most generous.

Yes indeed, your thoughts echo mine.

Resilient Lady? Sounds more like a battleship than a cruise ship, lol. With some Mrs Thatcher type at the helm 😂

I am on 21st July Virgin cruise from Athens. Anyone travelling would like to do a match for the extra bar tab….
