Good morning
Has anyone travelled to Naoshima to visit all the art museums, sculptures etc? I wondered how easy it is to walk around, rather than being reliant on the shuttle buses.
We went to Naoshima this summer. We judged it too big to walk around. The sites are also too spread out. There are public buses plus the shuttle buses put on by the hotel. We weren’t staying on the island so we didn’t have access to the hotel buses. We hired electric bikes.
I also hired an electric bike on Naoshima, I am not keen cyclist but found it to be a great way of getting around.
Thanks, both. It’s 50 years since I’ve ridden a bike and I’m not convinced you never forget how! We’re staying at Benesse House, so I was hoping shuttle bus and feet would suffice..
I’m sure you’ll be fine. If you want to do the art house project, you can walk between those venues.
Easily one of the best things I did in Japan. Can’t recommend an e-bike enough. Walking or buses is far too inflexible.
But whatever you do try to get to Teshima too. The Teshima Art Museum was far and away the best part of the art islands. Worth the extra effort and worth using the ticket to visit twice.
