Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Next month I’m on 4 business flights from EDI and, as I believed these flights were on Swiss I tried to register to credit the points to Aegean with whom I already have points etc. However I’ve now discovered the flights are with Edelweiss the leisure arm of Swiss and Edelweiss is not in *A therefore I cannot credit to A3. I believe I can credit to Miles & More but Where to Credit doesn’t recognise Edelweiss so it’s not clear. Also, I do not have a M&M account.
Has anyone else had this issue with Edelweiss? So, should I open a M&M account and credit to there? Can I do anything with 5,000+ points that will just be orphaned if I can’t move them? Or just let them go and not bother.

would it be worth looking at the detail of a few potentially useful airline schemes in case you can find where Edelweiss might credit? starting with Edelweiss own site, if they have one

Is it a Swiss flight number? And ticket issued by Swiss? If so, it shouldn’t make a difference and will credit normally as Swiss. Helvetic on behalf of Swiss operate many of their short haul routes and never had a problem with crediting. I don’t suppose you have Bonvoy Titanium? It might be better for you to claim the United Silver benefit, and credit to MileagePlus. United never expire points.

Thank you @LadyLondon & @BlairWaldorfSalad for your replies. I have been issued documents with both Edelweiss and Swiss flight numbers, but online it keeps rejecting my attempts to put in my A3 account number. I will try to contact Swiss and advise re booking through their website and having a Swiss flight number. Thanks again.
