Anyone know how to obtain “Circle by Melia” membership? Their website is very shiny, but entirely useless when it comes to practical information. The three levels look interesting, and I assume come at a cost, but would be interesting to know more.

@phantomchickenz Circle by Melia is the equivalent of Hilton Grand Vacations.

If you are ever in their Paradisus hotels in the Dominican Republic you will be invited to the sales pitch and it is rather expensive, last time I was there in 2019, it was £20k upfront for top level or £15k for mid level. That earned enough Circle points for 1 week per year, plus maintenance costs. Top level got Melia Platinum, plus inclusive extras at the Paradisus Grand Cana or Palma Real.

Extra costs per year were significant and were guaranteed to rise over and above inflation, plus with the constant changes of the Grand Cana resort name would have been terrible.

You get access to the other timeshare options via RCI if you prefer, but for me it was a no go. I just went for the “free gifts”.

Thanks a lot @dundj, timeshare certainly isn’t for me. Is “Club Melia” any different? I’ve been looking at this page: https://sites.melia.com/en/club-by-melia

I’ve not personally seen anything on Club Melia, though am aware that is the old name for Circle.

Circle being coined by the resort shape of Paradisus Grand Cana.

I think it is similar, but at a lower level. Personally, I’d avoid like the plague.

Understood. Always on the lookout for that little bit extra, but not at any cost. Thanks for the advice.

I noted you have asked about Melia Rewards Gold in the daily chat today @phantomchickenz I’ll add the main points of benefit for that level of the scheme.

    30% increase in points earning.
Additional free breakfast when one is purchased by the member.
3 vouchers of 20% off the advertised rate selected per membership year
1 birthday voucher of either a one category upgrade (subject to availability) or an additional 20% voucher off the advertised rate.
A 2pm late check-out at resorts or 4pm late check-out at city based hotels subject to the hotel capacity.
