As the title suggests, looking to book a room on points from my Melia account for a family member. I won’t be going on the trip. Does anyone know if this is possible? When I try to make a points booking, my name is already filled in, in a greyed out field that I can’t change.
Thanks in advance!
I did it for my brother last year. Outside the UK you can have issues over legal requirements for hotel guests to verify their ID. May be worth ringing Melia for advice.
I was told by customer services only way was to transfer points to them.
While you can’t book with points in someone else’s name, you can book multiple rooms. So for example, if you want to use your points more quickly, book two rooms and let friends/family use the other. UPDATE: sorry noticed you said you wouldn’t be there!
Meliá advice to transfer is consistent with what I’ve been told. However, some hotels are fine with it. For example, Meliá White House changed the name on one of my bookings once. Definitely confirm with hotel though.
