Melia/Amex Cashback (Spend £300 or more Get £75 back)

Does anyone have any experience booking a future date. Are you charged instantly for said booking or like IHG do they tend to take the charge a few days before the stay or during stay?

When I booked the Innside Amsterdam in March of this year they took the money straight away but I had to speak to Amex to get the £75 credit as although I booked direct the charge was showing as somewhere in Spain. I was credited though in the end and it was resolved quickly.
