Is there a way to highlight Master Threads?
Making them sticky would be an obvious answer, but what about within the Destination Advice forum? you’d quickly end up with the first page taken up with stickies relating to specific destinations.
The search facility (or lack thereof)) probably doesn’t help here, but I feel there needs to be a way of directing people to an existing thread that may already contain helpful info for them, or where they can ask relevant questions.
The logical one would probably be to split Destination Advice into regions (Asia etc) and then potentially have sticky threads for the top 5-10 destinations.
This wouuld start padding out the forum topics list, which we try to avoid, but as Destination Advice is at the bottom it is less of an issue as its not pushing other stuff too far down.
Is one option to have (in the Destination advice forum), a single sticky post per region (so you’d only need a few) with links in those to all the individual destinations? It would take a fair amount of time to set up but would be a nice easy way for users to find the relevant posts
Just want to revisit this.
Similar to what Ant M has suggested above, would it be an idea to have a single sticky post within the Destination Advice Forum (call it e.g. “Destination master threads”), and within that sticky post a list of Master Threads?
This single sticky would need to be kept locked and updated by HfP staff when appropriate.
At present, I think there are under 10 master threads.
Anything to reduce the same questions appearing over and over by people who claim to have searched for the answer but been unable to find it in the forums …😂
It’s a difficult one, I wanted to search information on Boston, so used the google Head for points Boston recommendation, but it didn’t come up with much, but then there might not be a lot of information on here about Boston. I’m probably doing something wrong. I think one of the threads it turned up you had posted on @NortherLass 🙂
Sorry, @Misty, I really meant the first timers who seem to have spent minimal time navigating the site before posting, not regulars! If there were sticky threads where it was fairly easy to spot topics like destination advice, as @Rob says, it would hopefully make for fewer individual threads clogging up the first page.
