Hi there. We are considering either of these properties with 3 small kids. Does anyone have experience of either/both?
We would use points for some of the stay.
The biggest extra cost then is Conrad has the seaplane transfers and is chargeable per person whereas on Amingiri our 2 little kids would not need to pay anything.
Quality wise, we don’t know what’s best. I like the idea of the private pool at Amingiri but Conrad is a natural island. Also I think Amingiri may have a more developed kids club but obviously don’t really have a clue!
Any tips and insights most gratefully received!
I can say Amingiri was excellent when we stayed and the island was surprisingly lush, I think the Conrad is much more expensive and if you go for the base rooms, the rooms are quite dated in comparison to Amingiri.
Yes that is something I’ve heard. I also like the idea of the private pool in the base room at Amingiri. However, we’ve just heard back from Amingiri and they may not accommodate us whereas all of the other Maldives properties we have checked with including Conrad are happy to accommodate us…
I’m hoping this changes so we have more flexibility in choice..
the holiday inn seems a good redemption too and as we are there for just over 2 weeks we are looking to split our time
I made the swap yesterday from Conrad to Amingiri for a trip next year. I’m still thinking if I made the right decision. We have just the one kid and been reading it’s an excellent kids club.
Transfer costs are cheaper and will save us over a 1000 USD but it’s the snorkelling at Conrad I’m trading it for which not sure how I’m mulling over
I’ve been reading recent reviews and Conrad does not seem to be doing too well.
The only issue for us is that they cannot accommodate us in a standard room, and have offered an alternative room for a daily additional supplement which isn’t insignificant. This makes total cost for both identical as it offsets Conrads transfer fees. Its actually more expensive than Conrad! BUT the room would be overwater (the only room they can offer)- for 2,4,6yo, this seems too dangerous.
Also have read they upgrade some Diamond without a fee so the inconsistency does not feel good as we are going in low season.
The kids club and private pool is so attractive but we may not have a choice on the matter.
If the rate at amingiri has free cancellation then definitely try making a booking and see if it gets upgraded to that room anyway and if not you can just cancel. I’m only Hilton gold and I got upgraded several rooms higher .
We have booked Conrad in points already so we don’t have the additional points for Amingiri but may try this if we can as we may have to purchase some points for a stay next year somewhere anyway. Which room were you upgraded to? I am not sure overwater is safe enough for kids and the 2 bed beach villa seems the most expensive of any they have.
