I have a Malaysian operated BA codeshare leg on a BA Holidays Double tier point run also involving Qatar and BA. The Qatar website can reserve their seats and the BA seat but not Malaysian. BA won’t do anyone but their own. The Malaysian site will allow me to change the Qatar and BA seat allocations but not their own leg. I rang them to explain and got told it was BA responsibility.
Inevitably BA sent me packing saying it was (correctly)a Malaysian flight. Back to Malaysian who looked, spoke to “tech support”, tried to say it was joint with BA as they on that route too. I put them right about this but its still computer says no. Advice given to me from CS was- to avoid 8 hours of middle seat hell is turn up early at airport . Great, just what you want when you are BA Gold. So its a last time for MAS for me. Be warned..
