So, when is H being revealed?
Update as of today.
Iberia still saying they can’t locate the bag
Airtag still pinging at Edinburgh AirportDoes anyone know why someone at Edinburgh would not scan the luggage tag and identify its location to iberia?
Have you considered posting this on the BA flyertalk forum ? There are some brilliant posters in this forum, including Corporate Wage slave who has a wealth of knowledge in the Edinburgh airport area. He knows everything BA
Today’s update
Iberia still maintaining they don’t know the whereabouts of my bike box
I’ve had a very pleasant call from a baggage handler in Edinburgh Airport. Asking me to confirm the contents of a bike box they have just found after returning from thier 4 days off!
Iberia Luggage tag is still attached and they have assured me it will be placed on a flight to BHX today.
thier information is consistent with the airtag data. The bag has moved airside.
I think it’s reasonable; based on probability, this bike has not been subject to any conspiracy or skullduggery.
But, is still “officially” lost.
Iberia have emailed me and asked me to start providing receipts for essential items. Which I have.
Bag update!
As of 5pm last night:
My bag is now located at t2 BHX
Iberia still maintain they cannot locate the bag!
I’m at Birmingham Airport on Sunday, so if still undelivered by then, I can speed things up a bit by have some face time with an official at BHX.

Pleased to hear your bike box and contents are now closer. Unfortunately Iberia is Iberia. When things go smoothly they are fine but if not they can be rather hopeless. Iberia should never have suggested you report the loss to the Police when the box was in their care; they have protocols to follow if they believe a theft may have taken place at Heathrow. Instead they used it as way to fob you off.
Fortunately the handlers who will be very familiar in dealing with misrouted luggage are at bit more helpful.
Thanks JDB
Do you know what the protocol is for turning up at BHX (which wasn’t my departure or destination airport) and asking to collect lost luggage?
Is there even a process for this given there won’t be an iberia desk at BHX.
Like I said above, I’m popping over Sunday morning to take the folks to catch a mexico flight. So it won’t be a wasted journey.
Which baggage handler sent it down to BHX. If Swissport or Menzies, both have desks there. Also, can call whomever forwarded from EDI and ask them for who is handling at BHX and for any reference number they have entered.
I don’t know if there is any specific protocol, but take your passport with you.
I’m assuming swissport as the tag was pinging from a phone at thier desk on Sunday and monady.
@kiley I’m afraid I have no idea, but if I were in your position, I would contact one of the key handlers at BHX like Swissport (Google and you will find their BHX baggage email and telephone). Your luggage is quite likely now in their care, but if not they will hopefully tell you who has it. You need to tee up the collection rather than just turning up as the box needs to clear customs before it can be released to you. Hopefully you are nearly there…
Menzies handle BA at EDI, I’ll see if I can find out who handles them at BHX. There’s a good chance though they’ll have graphics at the desk with a list of airlines they handle queries for.
In fact looking at things neither Iberia or BA operate out of BHX as far as I can see. Menzies seem your best bet initially but my gut feeling is that it will be with a local courier soon and delivered to you. It wouldn’t do any harm to nip by the desk if you can find it.
The most important thing is that once all this is over and you got your bag. if IB still claims they cannot find it then simply ask them to pay for it and its contents. They deserve to feel a little bit of pain too …
@Froggee is waiting anxiously at home for news….
As are we all.

I am indeed.
But I would plead with the OP not to claim for a lost bag if it is returned unbeknownst to Iberia. Apart from the whole dishonesty thing there would be a chance that the tracking might catch up and be reconciled and that is kinda criminal and albeit unlikely, could end a career.
Fort Knox or nothing, folks, as my dear parents taught me.

I’m not sure that sits well with me. If/when my bag turns ups and if iberia are still unable to locate my bag I will allow it to play out and see what happens.
I have already claimed for essential items, which wasn’t much as I have spare equipment at my home address.
Given current form, iberia will continue to take the passive approach. My bag was sent from LHR (my destination) to EDR (plus a short expedition round Scotland) then to BHX without iberia’s knowledge.
It’s still at BHX and hasn’t moved.
Lady London, I want to provide you and everyone updates, if only there was something to update.
My plan is to wait 24hrs, then drop swissport at BHX an email/phone call to chase delivery or offer possible collecting on Sunday.
On a personal note I’m starting to miss my race bike alot. Its been a week since ive touched the bar tape or heard the noise of the free hubb. Cyclists / Triathletes on this forum will relate.
Words are starting to fail me.
Iberia still cannot locate my bag.
As of 10pm last night, My bike is now back in Edinburgh Airport!

So your bike is in Edinburgh, but where are you at the moment?
I live in Warwickshire. 20mins from Birmingham airport
Sent you a message on FT.
Thanks Strickers
Finally managed to talk to someone who has seen my bike. It’s confirmed not stolen and back in Edinburgh Airport.
Apparently, BA had an incorrect file reference on thier system for my bag and the original tag had been covered with new tags, hence the confusion at Birmingham.
Rather than send back to BHX, they are requesting authorisation to get the bike box couriered from Edinburgh to my address in the Midlands.
Also, data point, Samsung air tag history onkys stores for one week, so advice for anyone else in this position is to take screen shots of air tag location every day.
It sounds like a resolution may be close! How many triathlons has the bike done now, lol.
