London to Punta Cana with points

Hi all,

I’ve got around 800k Amex points and want to book a business class reward flight from London to Punta Cana between April 8-10. What’s the best airline and route to use my points for this?

Do you mean this year? I think from London direct with points you’re really only looking at using avios on BA from LGW, and availability is probably going to be zero now as it’s Easter.

Probably a lot more options if you fly to the US and connect.

BA or Virgin will have availability to many US cities, though Virgin points pricing is likely to be very high this close to departure. Miami is probably the most convenient connecting airport, however it will be in demand at this time of year, so look at Atlanta or east coast.

You can use avios on American Airlines, but again it’s a bit of a lottery as to whether you’ll find availability. You can use Virgin points on Delta, which has a lot of connecting routes from ATL.

Have you thought of iberia they don’t go to Punta but do go to Santo Domingo? Are 7 seats available on 08 April bargain at 42500 avios but you have to get to Madrid for 1145. Not sure when you are returning may be an issue.
