If there is a hearing at the Supreme Court, can members of the public apply to attend?

You can attend and most of their hearings are live streamed as well. I don’t know if you have ever attended any sort of appeal hearing before but it is usually really quite boring! It isn’t a rehearing of the case or discussion of the facts, merely arguments on the law, looking at the authorities to determine whether the Court of Appeal was correct in its judgment.

@Richie it’s actually a very unsatisfactory case as the illness of the pilot and the surrounding circumstances were very narrow and pre-Covid so it isn’t clear how it might be applied more generally. Given your interest, do you know if the appeal is on the illness issue or the additional judgment re EU law or both?

    Thanks JDB.
I would like to hear the arguments on the law. I’d read up more on the case before attending.

I don’t think more detail about the appeal has been published.
