Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Leaked: Benefits of IHG’s new reward programme

  • 402 posts

Just checked account on website and new benefits are live, I’m Diamond until Dec, then extended to Feb 23 I think. I don’t see much evidence of discounts on reward stays yet – maybe that’s not implemented yet.
Should get breakfast option on May stays.

I’m thinking as well this may affect bookings via Emyr as breakfast was a huge benefit, and IHG probably knows that. I’m thinking though that as we often book 2 rooms, and probably only one of us will re-qualify for Diamond after this year, our booking strategy ongoing will be to book one room directly and the other via Emyr (which we’ve sometimes done previously anyway).

Is there any official info on whether nights booked via specialist travel advisors will still qualify for status?

NL that assumes that everyone who books via Emyr is or will be a diamond.

If you’re not them Emyr is likely still a good deal because of the other benefits but it might make results of the cost benefit analysis of booking via Emyr or just a normal rate change.

@MKB The diamond welcome choice is Breakfast OR drink/snack OR points. Platinum retains points or Drink/snack.

I know. Did you think I said breakfast was the only option rather than “only an option”? Confused.

No but I didn’t get your point if you leave before breakfast take the drink. If You want breakfast what’s the issue?

The new look app is now available for updating on iOS.

Looks a lot fresher than the previous version. Haven’t been through everything yet but it looks good.

I’ve just been on chat to ask if there’s any way of finding out which Kimptons will be offering the free breakfast. The answer was “No”, but apparently there “may be” a list compiled in June when the program is rolled out. Not very helpful for forward planning at this point!

The moral of the story is…stay with Hilton to avoid all this continued nonsense from IHG!

The Kimpton website is now showing that, in theory, all properties will be offering the breakfast amenity to Diamonds. As per the discussion in the HFP article, though, I can see the Seafire being stubborn about this, in the same way that they absolutely will not waive the $80 “resort fee” on award stays. IHG seems powerless to make them comply!

Are we any clearer about when free breakfast benefit will kick in? I’ve seen people say May, but IHG site looks like ‘early may’

I’m in conversation with IHG about Kimptons and they are still sending me the old info and saying it will start from early June! So if IHG’s own staff don’t know what’s happening I don’t know how the actual hotels are supposed to.

Would it be safe to expect Vocco hotels to provide free breakfast later this year to IHG Diamonds?

Planning a trip to The Hague in September and the Vocco property looks excellent and is well priced for our dates (especially vs the Hotel Indigo)

Stayed at Kimpton Clocktower in Manchester on a reward night over the weekend and as diamond elite was offered free breakfast. Receptionist quoted that this was as per the new IHG one reward scheme. Well pleased. June has come early!

Excellent – that’s northern hospitality for you! I have given up with IHG CS, they clearly haven’t a clue what’s going on. I’m at the Bath Indigo this weekend but not holding out much hope that they will have started yet.

The Clocktower breakfast is really good as well – did you get buffet and/or a la carte?

Both buffet plus cooked to order a la carte items all included. Normally £18.5 per person.

Be interested to hear if anyone staying at Paris IC is offered free breakfast as diamond

    69 posts

Stayed at the IC Paris last weekend on points but I had already emailed and agreed a modest fees for a slight room upgrade to two beds and breakfast.I am Diamond Ambassador and had stayed there before. Was very politely discouraged from paying for lounge access on the ground that the hotel was full (which it did seem to be judging by the whores for breakfast every day).
The rooftop bar in the Kimpton is very definitely worth a walk across the street on a warm evening for the views but sadly, not the prices!
I thought the free breakfast didn’t kick in until June?

Good grief, what kind of clientele does the IC Paris attract? 🤣

I’m staying Edinburgh Kimpton on points over weekend. I’m hoping the northern hospitality stretches above the boarder. Will ask about Diamond breakfast when check-in tomo.

Good luck with that one! On our first stay there they offered me a special rate for breakfast at the time of booking then refused to honour it – fortunately I had confirmed it via email and was able to dig this out and show them.

No free breakie at Ed Kimpton. check-in staff knew all the info and said didn’t start until june. Breakfast offered @ £17.50pp. Had to ask for my drinks vouchers but handed over with no problem.

Tried to use the secret password of ‘just chillin’. They knew it had expired but sent me up a rather nice hot chocolate anyway.

Hotel seems to have a number of press down in lobby. Maybe someone exciting staying here…??
