I’ve been keeping an eye on LATAM cash prices which have been pretty good for next autumn. Suddenly Uio-Lim has doubled and more in price from today . High season? glitch? Any ideas?
Avios availability either not released or snapped up and I’m left contemplating a ridiculous cost . Should I wait a while ?
Any thoughts welcome from the South American HfP fansWell, in case anyone is thinking of contributing, panic over!
The Latam site has reverted back to what I was expecting for the date required . Phew!must have been a glitch. Happy with booking and ticketed.I’ve booked some internal flights with Latem and avianca, for Colombia, the Latem ones were Bogotá to Cartegena one way £438 for two adults, and Medellin to Bogotá one way £115 for two adults, the Avianca one was Santa Marta to Medellin one way £310 for two adults, we only booked these a couple of weeks ago, and travelling in around five weeks, so we obviously paid the price for a last minute booking.
I’ve been booking for next year Ecuador, Peru and Chile as soon as our dates become available. Via BA site can use Avios to book LATAM , but economy only. It’s interesting that working out Avios cost vs LATAM cash for econ and PE , it can work out cheaper to book PE rather than Econ as there are charges for seats and priority ( if you want that), but also PE ( all in)is only a few £ more than economy. As a result I’ve a mixed bag of econ, PE with cash and avios bookings via BA.

Yes, it’s the same in Argentina with Aerolíneas – PE (the highest domestic class) is often cheaper overall, you get proper business seats (in 1-2 or 2-2 configuration) and extra bags etc. Also, unless you have SkyTeam priority anyway, using the PE check-in desks at Aeroparque makes an enormous difference as the economy queue for all domestic destinations is usually horrendous.

I’m surprised you didn’t use Avios for the internal flights. Most of the flights have 7 seats available in economy for Avios

At the time of booking, I didn’t even know I could use avios, lesson learned, I will look at options for avios for internal flights in Brazil, if that’s possible.

That seems like a lot. I’m flying Bogota to Santa Marta this afternoon and my LATAM flight in “Premium Economy” was only £72 one way. Even if I wanted to buy the ticket now to fly in three hours it’s still only £90ish.
Other routes seem to be similar

Seems a waste of avios in my opinion. 8500+£15 when I’m not seeing most days you can get fares with checked luggage for under £100, even same day
Used Latam scl-pnt return. The prices varied quite a lot over the couple of months that I tracked them.
I came through SCL yesterday to AEP.
Price for economy was massively cheaper than business on Aerolinas Argentina. At check-in I used SkyPriority lane with ITA premium but I do not think staff understood anyway and just let us walk through

Was more comparing to ‘Bogotá to Cartegena one way £438 for two adults’

He must want to be on a specific flight for that price as there’s plenty of options every day for less than £100.
When I looked earlier at CTG-BOG on avios the three options it gave me were 4am, 5am and 6am (plus going via Miami on American for 34k avios)

That’s the prices including luggage etc, decent times as well, plenty of early and late flights that did not interest us, I don’t mind paying a premium for decent times, We are flying peak, Xmas and new year! So I guess that’s why the prices are high.
We are on the 10:45 from Bogotá landing in Cartagena at 12:16, on the 30th Dec

What! We are on vacation, my wife would have a fit if I told her we are getting up in the middle of the night for an internal flight!
I’ve just booked Avios return from SCL-IPC. Best option was lowest Avios and max £ .
21800 Avios and £385.20 return for 2. Latam economy wanted double at £1200( not including seat selection which is £72 extra and another £20 for priority boarding).
Downside of my booking is can’t select seats until check in, but do get hold luggage.
Just hope we don’t get chucked off as it seems a real’bargain price’Have been tracking flights to Calama for Atacama desert with Latam . Suddenly from 26 oct 25 nothing!
Even itamatrix is showing zilch. Only airline is Jetstar, which gets terrible reviews on TA.
Anyone got ideas? Wanting 1-6 NovAs BA silver can you book seats in advance and can you access lounges?
I presume you mean Latem, obviously can with BA, but not 100% if you can with Latem, as never tried. I’m sure someone will inform you soon.
I’m Gold and still will be when we travel but whilst you can use avios on BA for LATAM flights they are not a fullpartner airline ( used to be) so no benefits😩 that I am aware of. Hopefully the well travelled South American HfPers will chip in
