For those who are moving to Singapore or recently moved I thought I would share how I will be generating just under 180k miles and only
Spending $197 on card fees (Citibank)
Sign up bonus then cancel unless **
* 33,000 DBS Altitude Card (spend $4k)
* 22,250 Amex (spend $2k)
* 12,000 UOB** (spend $1.5k 30 days)
* 31,000 Citibank (spend $800)
On going earning:
* 33,600 UOB (earn 1.4 miles per $) – assume $2k a month spend
* 48,000 HSBC (earn 4 miles per $ on first $1000 a month) – assume $1k a month spend
Total 179,850
Hope this helps someone!
Should probably add that DBS, Amex and Citibank cards were cancelled after miles transferred and you are considered a “new” customer after not having the product for 12 months.
I used Citibank Premiermiles as my main card – if you use the frequent PayAll offers wisely you can collect quite a haul of very cheap points and there are lots of transfer partners.
E.g. just cashed out a chunk to Qatar Avios with a 40% bonus and Turkish Miles&Smiles has some sweet spots for Asia e.g. back to the UK for 45k miles pp (vs 100k+ on SQ now) with the added benefit of a physical ticket office on Beach Road you can visit to book *A awards (quite painful online / via the call centre!)
thanks SamG, interesting on the Turkish sweet spot. Are you saying 45k miles for Singapore to London via Istanbul in business? One way

Yep! Any *A routing – Lufthansa, Swiss, Thai are other options (though Lufthansa is difficult for availability until last minute and fuel charges are chunky) . LOT was a reliably available option but do not think theyve returned yet and not great product. SQ/Air India also possible but never great timings
Unfortunately no SQ metal longhaul as they don’t realise biz space to partners
United.com is best website for researching space. Turkish often has availability to Gatwick or Birmingham vs Heathrow
Thanks again. I am only seeing 100k+ In business on star alliance airlines. Am I missing something ?
Ignore the miles values on United.com as you aren’t using their currency
Any Business “I” class availability you see there will be bookable by Turkish Airlines for 45k e/w pp there but for *A other than TK metal flights most likely only by emailing/ calling / visiting the Singapore office.
You can in theory book online but most options don’t show up and their call centre is pretty useless
TK metal no problem just booking online
