Planning 4 nights in Krakow early next year. There are 2 Indigo options, both look quite reasonable at a smidge over £100 pn. Any recommendations for Old Town v Wawel Castle area?
I’m guessing OT is nearer the main attractions but WC looks a bit nicer (and is brand new).
Also any recommendations for food/activities/transport? TIA.
Wawel Castle is basically right next to the Old Town, so I would simply go for the one you prefer the look of.
Thanks – will probably book that one then, it looks like a beautiful property from the pictures.
Or try 2 nights in each? Appreciate many people don’t want the hassle of moving hotel although when I finally make it to Krakow I will probably stay 1 night in 4 different hotels :p
Given the choice, I’d go for Old Town – it’s nearer the station, and there’s no point in travelling from so far south of the city every day. We stayed at the Holiday Inn which is exactly halfway between them!

So far south? It’s Wawel not Podgorze! It’s not far at all and you have the bonus of being close to the river.
We want to spend a day exploring the castle area so don’t mind walking to the Old Town another day.
The HI was only slightly cheaper than the Indigos, not enough to sway me!
Stayed in the Indigo Old Town a couple of years ago. Very good hotel: stylish, great service, reasonably priced, decent rooms, decent food. The bar staff there introduced me to the joys of horseradish vodka, which, to my enormous astonishment, is actually delicious.

It’s literally 10 mins walk from the SE exit of the Rynek down Grodzka, which is itself a v. pleasant walk.
Check it on Google Maps if you don’t believe me!
It’s fine, I’ve booked it already, thanks!
Just picking this post up. Widening the question. Indigo looks good. But seem to be plethora of hotels. Any other thoughts? Top tier Hilton & Radisson so that helps. Like many no only platinum IHG…

If you’ve booked the Wawel Castle one, depending how much luggage you will be hauling, the small bus terminal to/from the airport is only about 5 minutes away just over the river. From memory about 4 years ago it only costs a few zlotys and much more interesting than a taxi.
If you’re not wedded to IHG then we stayed at the Wyndham on Florianska last year and it was superb. Great service, great food, great room and couldn’t beat the location.
We also went for 4 nights or so and booked via Amex offer on luxury escapes for 200 off 800 or so IIRC.
