Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Kimpton De Witt Stay

  • 319 posts

Good Morning. My wife and I will soon be staying at the Kimpton De Witt. The first two nights have been booked using the Ambassador Free Night Voucher and the last night using points.

Given the recent changes to IHG Rewards programme, I wanted to check what we should be expecting (I’m Diamond Elite Ambassador). My understanding is:

    – Room Upgrade (subject to availability).
    – Late Check Out (14.00, subject to availability).
    – Breakfast (Welcome amenity for first two nights, probably not the last).
    – Wine Hour
    – Secret Password

Is there anything I’ve missed or misunderstood?

    TIA

I have stayed at the KDW a few times this year and would say the following:

Room upgrades – They’re very good at this with elites if the rooms are there. One three night stay (my longest there) they gave me an upgrade from a Deluxe room (lowest I could book at the time) to a Jr Suite with Bath (fabulous room.) The other one night stays have had me move up at least two categories. I would say that you can expect a decent upgrade if they are there.

Late check out has been given to me, even prior to IHG One. That said, this place can get busy at times so this may depend on when you depart.

Breakfast I cannot comment on as I haven’t stayed since the roll out and they weren’t a hotel that went early one this. However, my understanding was that Breakfast was for everyday and not just the first two. I would say that you may want to just double check that you select this option; although they have always been very good at telling me what I can opt for (points/voucher at the time.)

The Red wine offered here is pretty decent at happy hour. I am not sure if the bottle is expensive but I really like it. However, be aware this is served between 4-5pm which I find too early. The bite sized mini pots of food they offer (normally you can get more than 1 if you request) are normally fresh and tasty however do not expect the food to be something that can cover you for dinner or anything.

    Secret password should work.

After that, in the room expect a full bottle of Red, same as that served at happy hour, a small box of chocolate tulips and two bottle of still water served daily.

If you are ambassador, late check out is 4pm guaranteed.

That’s only at ICs. The de Witt is a Kimpton.

Also no guaranteed upgrade but you should get one for Diamond status if there’s availability.
Breakfast amenity should be for the whole stay, regardless of how you booked (I think IHG initially said reward stays don’t qualify then backtracked?)

Is the wine hour for Diamond and above? I’m only Platinum and am going there next week.
