Can you still get Avios with Kaligo or has it teamed up with Virgin exclusively?
Ditto Rocketmiles who seem to be offwering a Gift Card for booking but do you get Avios too?

Yes, certainly for RocketMiles as used them to earn a hefty stash on a recent Asia trip. A quick search on their website is showing up Avios for stays. I’m sure you have but make sure BAEC is selected as the Partner in the drop down box.

You can get loads of different things on both sites. I use them for United miles, but BAEC and more options are in the dropdown when you select.

Something does seem to have changed with Kaligo in just the last month actually… BA not on there anymore, and a much smaller list of airlines in general. Wonder if they are struggling?

Well emails to their servicedesk are going unanswered. They have $200 of my money and are ignoring emails to refund it. CC chargeback will be forthcoming.

Interesting. It’s been a while since they approached us to do an offer.

With Rocketmiles, note the Heathrow Rewards option. You tend to earn more points in HR than in Avios and the conversion rate is 1:1 – plus you get the option to convert to other airlines too. There is the issue of the ‘convert in chunks of 250 points’ rule though.

Hi – has anyone redeemed their Virgin points for a voucher for the Kaligo hotel booking site?

Is it straightforward/clunky? How long does it take to get the code?

    Thanks 🙂

To answer my own question 😀

    Very easy process.

    – Call Virgin Atlantic
    – Virgin confirms number of points for exchange: 20,000 standard, 30,000 premium, 40,000 luxury
    – Voucher emailed within 24-48 hours
    – To note: Kaligo voucher validity is 6 months
    – Voucher easily redeemed on the special Kaligo site

@Skywalker — is there a relationship between points earned and standard/premium/luxury? It would be nice to be able to search and work out what’s available for Virgin points.

@memesweeper – If I understand your question correctly – yes (and if I didn’t understand your question correctly – please elaborate 🙂 )

    20,000 Virgin points = Standard
    30,000 Virgin points = Premier
    40,000 Virgin points = Luxury

So if you have multiples of these amounts available, then you can exchange for said vouchers.

To the left of the special Kaligo/Virgin site, it is possible to filter the search by the type of voucher you have.

For me, it was a good use of points because they’ve been sitting there gathering internet dust. I’m sure someone will be along soon to tell me how I could have used them better, but I am happy with my choice 😀

The only thing I am unsure about is how to use multiple vouchers against a longer booking – I only had 20k Virgin points and exchanged it for a single night in a quirky hotel that I wouldn’t have stayed in or even known about.

Gotcha — the key is to use the Virgin redemption sub site, not just have Virgin selected as an earning partner. Thanks!

voucher=gift card, with attendant risks, comments above are interesting…

Yes exactly that 😀 (I did provide a link to the partner/sub-site above, sorry if that wasn’t clear)
