Here’s a novelty. I booked to stay at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel through my Jumeirah One membership. The room was £700 cheaper booking through TravelRepublic so I submitted a Best Price Guarantee claim and received the following reply –

Please be advised that while comparing the rates with the competitor website we also compare room type, rate type and rate policies of your reservation with Jumeirah as per the program’s Terms & Conditions.
We have reviewed your application and determined that unfortunately your claim cannot be approved on this occasion. Due to the rate that you booked is a “Member Rate – Jumeirah Escapes”. This rate is exclusively offered to Jumeirah One members only. Therefore, this is not a publicly available rate. The members have to login in order to book the Member rate on Jumeirah Brand Website. Following the Terms & Conditions the Best Price Guarantee Clause 2.4 The Best Price Guarantee does not apply to the following rate types:
discount rates offered only to members of groups or individuals who meet previously specified criteria, including but not limited to Jumeirah One members.

I may be reading this wrong but it appears to be the case that Jumeirah’s ‘Best Price Guarantee’ doesn’t apply to their own loyalty scheme members.
Needless to say I have booked through TravelRepublic.Technically they are right I suppose!
Did you get a quote from Emyr? He can match the Member Rate and you’d have got all the extra goodies – free breakfast, $100 credit etc.
The points have some value off a direct booking too, worth around 4% back. If you stay had got you status, which it probably would, then you’d also have got free brekky etc on your next trip irrespective of how you booked.
There is no BRG then? You cannot file a request for BRG if you haven’t booked direct?
