Got a JAJA card for using overseas a few years ago, used it a lot in South Africa recently. However, they have decided to close my account! I expect its because I always pay it off each month! I will have to look for another back up CC for when abroad now.
They’re stopping the card and closing everyone’s accounts, so don’t panic it’s just you!
I closed mine immediately they took over from the post office.
Halifax Clarity is your friend if you want a credit card.
I rarely use mine so they’ve now offered me 0.5% cashback (after first £200 spend) for three months which will come in handy.
I got this by e-mail in early January:
We’re writing to let you know that we’ll be closing your Jaja Credit Card account shortly after 23 March 2023.
We’ve made this decision as we’ve noticed that you haven’t used or requested a new credit card for a long time.
Quite true! I used it once, when I first got it, buying a copy of the Guardian, I suspect, to make sure that the card worked. I kept hold of it “just in case”, but as I have both an MBNA Horizon and a Halifax Clarity Card, it never got used again.
And those two cards get very little use as I do not travel much outwith Europe, but do not have to use UK cards in the Eurozone, Romania, Sweden or in Switzerland.

I have been looking at the recent thread on MSE about this.
Lots of people are having their card closed, but also some posts from those who have not been told that their card is closing.
Sounds very like Creation, though not the same reason.
However, the Creation cut back is referenced in the MSE discussion.

Interesting. The email I got said that they’re discontinuing the credit card that I hold, and it will be closed from 24th May. Nothing about not using it much (although to be fair, I haven’t!).
Doesn’t bother me, I’ve got the Halifax credit card and also have a Starling account for fee free debit card, so my JaJa was purely a back-up.
Sounds as if different people are getting different emails though, which I wasn’t aware of. The wording of mine meant I assumed that everyone was having their account closed because it was being discontinued.
I don’t think anyone has been given a reason for closure.
Some have expressed surprise since they “always paid in full” (which of course makes a product like this very hard to make any money from)…
I had a Post Office credit card for many many years using it mainly when visiting South Africa. Then a couple of years ago I received this JaJa card in lieu of the PO card. Last year I used the JaJa card to pay a deposit for some solar batteries from a solar power installer. That is another story, but 8 months later no batteries so I cancelled the battery order and asked for the return of my deposit. As you can imagine this never happened so I made a claim with JaJa under Section 75 of the Credit Card Consumer Act. Eventually after a few months they agreed to repay me the money, but a short time later I received an email that they had taken the decision to close my credit card account from the end of may.
I thought that it was due to me making a claim against them, but now reading this forum I can see that I am not alone as there seems to be various reasons. Not to worry I just got another card. To me they seem to biting off their nose to spite their face!
A successful S75 probably didn’t help, but in any case it appears anecdotally that the only clients they kept hold of were those who paid interest. Sign of the times really – bought the book for a song and then find it’s a better option to bin most of it off.
