Forums Payment cards American Express Issuing supplementary card to someone outside UK?

  • 12 posts

Does anyone know what’s the current policy on issuing supplementary cards to someone residing outside of the UK?

The agent I originally spoke to assured me it’s possible but that I will need to call instead of filling the online form (no option to change country). However, when Amex later asked to provide proof of ID and address, I was told it MUST be a UK address?

Did anyone have any luck in issuing a supplementary card for someone not in the UK?

I did it. It came to my address. No proof of ID etc was asked. It is a supp card, financial responsibility is on you anyway

For the latest sup card that I requested, AMEX wanted proof of ID and address for the sup person. I believe that they have recently changed their policies on this matter.

Just requested some SUPs no request for additional details. BUT I am someone’s sup and did recently get asked to provide proof of IDs after months of having the card. Also only 1 of 2 sup got asked for additional info.

We were refused a supp card for a nanny a few years ago, probably on the grounds of a lack of UK credit bureau data, even though she had a UK current account.

That would support what the new accounts agent said about this being a recent change and that a UK address must now be provided. Shame…

Anyway, thanks all for your replies!
