Looking for destination and IHG hotel inspiration for next Jan/Feb for my wife and I plus a 2y’old.

I’m sitting on plenty IHG points so want to capitalize before my Diamond status expires end of Feb 2023.

Looking for destination of 6/7hrs or under and then a hotel that can book on points that is very toddler friendly (guessing pool, close to appropriate attractions etc).

Wife and I thinking Dubai as never been but open to other suggestions.

We will have a companion ticket for 2 of us and a Barclays avios upgrade voucher for myself to use up so needs to be somewhere BA flies. TIA.

Intercontinental Dubai Festival City. It’s well-run and well-maintained. Book a room with club access – in lieu of being able to go to the evening cocktail hour (no children allowed) you get to go to the (good) buffet restaurant, drinks included. Effectively half board. Quick and easy from the airport. Pleasant pool with significant shallow areas and stays shady until about 11am. There is a large shopping mall connected to the hotel if you want more dining options or need to pick up supplies. There are lightshows outside the mall every evening that you can watch from the hotel (and will go down well with a toddler). You can get a little shuttle boat over to the metro station across the river (this is a fun adventure for a two year old in of itself).

Thank you. Very strong start with the recommendations there 🙂

I’ve gone for above. Booked 8 nights at IC Festival City so got plenty of time to get away and also explore at relaxed pace.

Got premium economy reward flights. Seemed expensive at face-value, but when compared to cash prices, seem the acceptable side of value. Was hoping for CW flights but (a) no current availability, and (b) I think I would be too self-conscious if toddler cried the whole way at the pointy end of the plane. Also, gives get flexibility for cancellation should I need to cancel/change for any reason in next 9 months.

Think I’ll get Ambassador nearer the date. Hopefully that with Diamond should lead to nice upgrade in addition to my [hopefully] free breakfasts.

Another one worth considering is IC malta, as that has a kids club which can be used by small kids. We had booked to go but pandemic scuppered those plans.

For the flights if the flight is in your name your partner wouldn’t be able to use it unless you were the other passenger. Fine if it’s in your wife’s name though
