I’m Marriott gold. Can I use the credit card 15 night credit to help progress?

I am Bonvoy gold via my amex Platty.

If I apply for a Bonvoy Amex and receive 15 elite nights, do they count towards progression to Bonvoy platinum status? From the gold starting point?

The 15 nights count towards your annual nights tally. But the Plat Gold status is merely gifted to you without the requisite nights. So if the Bonvoy Amex 15 nights were your only nights with Marriott that year, you’d still have an overall total of 15. It’s not Gold threshold + 15

But you could call Bonvoy and ask to be enrolled in the Platinum challenge.
