Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards IHG Hotels with onsite/nearby EV charging outside congestion zone?

  • 23 posts

Planning a few days in London next month and have a stack of IHG points. I wondered if anyone had recommendations for an IHG brand hotel with EV charging either onsite or very nearby. I know about the Holiday Inn Kensington and would prefer something a little more plush that that – ideally close to Royal Albert Hall.

I suspect I have answered my question but in any case…thoughts?!

Out of curiosity why does the congestion zone matter if you have a full EV? £10 registration fee for 1 year of driving in the zone gratis.

Zap-map is probably your best bet in finding a charger near other IHG hotels but in my experience London is poor for 50kwh+ charging solutions.

Or charge up on your way into London and not worry while you are there? There is a shell E forecourt in Fulham with 10 150kw chargers

Plugshare will allow you to search for chargers with on-site accommodation.

There’s a shortage of high-quality luxury IHGs in central London. Lots of OK Holiday Inns though. The Kimpton Fitzroy is by far the best redemption choice, the IC Park Lane being the other decent alternative.

There’s chargers in both the car parks adjacent to the Kimpton Fitzroy, but this requires Source London membership. Last time I checked the wanted £LOL for a top up so I’ve ignored them since.

It’s a short walk from the Fitzroy, and it only offers commando sockets, but the car park under Bloomsbury Sq garden offers free of charge top ups in the bays near the entrance. Book on JustPark and it’s affordable.

Do people still drive into central London?

Anyway, use zapmap to search for chargers near (or at) the postcodes of your short listed hotels maybe?

Part of the question is I would ideally like to be able to plug in the EV when I get there and just leave it to charge. We had success with Hilton Metropole that has a on site car park and 3 pin plugs that can be used (although not advertised as such).

You mean NCP, not Just Park 😉 I couldn’t find it until I googled. And by commando socket, you mean 3 pin?

3 pin maybe available in lots of places but not advertised as it’s not really EV charging. It’s extremely slow though!

Best just spending 20 mins at a 50kwh and stay somewhere you want to stay

If you fancy a bit further out, cp Ealing has them.
