But for a stay next month in an IC with a lounge, the lounge pass is all @Paul needs.

I’ve just noticed in my IHG account activity an entry saying “IHG Premium credit card PLTN status upgrade”.

Does this mean I’m dropping to Platinum imminently? Obviously that would be better than no status!

I think that’s just an automated entry, but indicates you will be at least Platinum next year. I had an entry a week ago saying Silver (from the free card), even though I will get Platinum from last year’s nights.

Great, I probably won’t bother purchasing Ambassador then!

I thought IHG did soft landings anyway.

    I’m sure they do.
I dropped to Platinum early last year.

Bugger, looks like I’m dropping to Silver this year.

I still have in date Ambassador (expiring August) and have the same Silver status line. I suspect I will have to chase.

Never mind, it’s a good excuse to treat yourself at the better quality Hilton brands instead. I’ve just dropped from Diamond to Platinum and don’t care a jot!🙂

I’ve got the silver line but my stays last year qualified me for gold, so I think those activity entries are Creation card hangovers.

I’ve lost my Diamond status overnight after concentrating on Hilton last year and the creation tap running dry.

I do have Ambassador and just posted in the daily chat – I thought between soft landings / ambassador that I’d be platinum but my account status this morning shows as club.

Hopefully it sorts itself out fairly soon.

@Scottpat, I’ve just replied to your post in the chat, email the Ambassador team if it doesn’t adjust soon.

    @Harrier25
, while I agree generally about Hilton, there are some Kimptons and Indigos I’m very fond of (not too fussed about the rest of the brand, including IC). Also we’re committed to our annual jaunt to GCM which has 3 IHG properties, but only a Hampton from the Hilton portfolio!

Thanks Anna, that’s the plan if it isn’t sorted by the weekend.

I’d even go so far as to argue that Hilton Gold has been better than IHG Diamond for us, when you take into consideration the 5 reward nights for the price of 4, and that many of the IHG hotels I’ve stayed at didn’t have a lounge.

…and many Crowne Plaza properties are nasty Holiday Inn’s that have just been rebadged. 😐

If you want 5 nights on points then Hilton generally beats IHG hands down. I’ve just booked the Hilton Jumeirah The Walk for next New Year – 280k points for 5 nights in a suite with a kitchenette where cash prices are currently around £500. IHG hotels not available to book yet but points pricing over Xmas isn’t anywhere near as competitive and they have no beach front properties. Also free brekkie at Hilton, as you say, @Aston.

I’ve literally just dropped from Diamond to Platinum during the day as I checked when I read this this morning, and just went on the app and have sadly dropped to Platinum which is pretty worthless ☹️

Still diamond here! I recall getting drink vouchers as Platinum previously, though it varies enormously how generous hotels are with those.

    I’m still currently Platinum.

EDIT: though if I do drop to Silver as anticipated, I’m not sure it’ll have any tangible effect since anything below Diamond seems useless anyway.

So do IHG do soft landings or not?

My Diamond is also still sparkling nicely, so two more breakfasts on my last stay this month 😁. Did well last week as well, with a free upgrade to a Key Largo marina view room – which I was going to ask if I could pay for!

Platinum gets the choice of points or drink as a Welcome Amenity, or occasionally both.

…and sometimes a bag of nuts or crisps too. Is there no end to the generosity of these classy IHG folk? 😂

I have just dropped from Plat to Gold, also had the silver line in activity, perhaps that allows soft landings

    It’s true.
A HIX in Cambridge gave me a mini tub of Pringles when they ran out of parking spaces.
