Have a IHG Suite Upgrade voucher expiring soon but a stay just after the expiry date. I know you can only ring up to apply it within 14 days of the stay. Is the expiry date for when you apply it or does it relate to the date of the stay?

I’m sure this has been asked before but nobody has tried it yet!

It might be worth calling or emailing IHG and asking so you don’t risk losing the voucher.

Has anyone ever managed an extension on the voucher?

@LittleNick Yes I did a few months ago. They extended an expiring one for 2 months as I said I had a forthcoming stay that I wanted to use it for.

@Lula Thanks, did you have a confirmed booking when you asked for the extension or just said you were planning to book?

    I had a confirmed booking.

Thanks @LittleNick and @Lula for asking and answering this question as I wouldn’t have thought of asking.

I just called the Diamond line and managed to get a CSU extended for a year.

It was to expire tomorrow but I wasn’t able to call until now. I started off by saying that I have 10 bookings over Christmas/New Year starting from 20th Dec so I wouldn’t be able to use it, and I only needed it to be extended by a few weeks.

The agent said they would do it just this once because I’m Diamond, and not to try asking again in the future 🙂

Also I tried calling the North American Diamond freephone number through Skype and after wading through the menu it kept saying “thanks for being a Club member” without any option to enter my IHG number.

As I’m not currently able to call the UK for free but can call Australia numbers for free, I then tried the Asia Pacific Diamond line and the first voice prompt was to enter my IHG number. The agent only asked for my name as security. (The queue was 20 minutes long though.)

Resurrecting this rather than starting a new thread. I called the IHG US free number from our FLL hotel, got through straight away, and asked to apply the suite upgrade to our Kimpton Seafire stay at the end of this month. There were 5 1-Bedroom Ocean View suites showing as available on the app and the agent quickly applied the certificate and emailed me the confirmation.

Originally booked a standard car park view room for 70k points pn, the suite is currently $2064 pn!

I was going to set up a thread to ask if anyone (but aimed at you NL) had used a suite upgrade at the Seafire as I was debating whether to push to get one before our stay in July.
    From your feedback, I will!

We’re staying more than 5 nights so I may have to be prepared to move though 😂

It’s still showing in my bookings 🤞🤞🤞. Someone on FT reported when the upgrades first started that the Seafire reversed their upgrade and they had to fight to get it reinstated!

We only needed 3 nights at the end of this current trip, but we used an upgrade certificate for 5 nights at the new Indigo last summer – tried for the Kimpton but they had genuinely sold out of the lower level suites. It does get busy in the summer, especially around July 4th weekend.

The Indigo is just as nice, IMO (certainly was quieter last July!), and you can get it for 50k ppn on some dates, so I’ve booked another 5 nights for next January with the hope of applying another CSU – their 1 bedroom suites have a bigger living area than the Seafire ones.

How long does a CSU last for once issued?

12 months. There’s also a date by which you must choose your benefit (CSU/Lounge pass etc) once you hit the milestone.

You have 3 months to select the CSU, then 12 months to use it, though as per a couple of posts up thread, it is possible to get it extended. I haven’t done this, but have had success previously in getting Ambassador free night certs extended with a huge amount of begging and grovelling!

Thanks. Haven’t had one before, but am on target to receive my first this year.

@DoubleA, more on the daily chat, but we checked into our 1 Bedroom Ocean View suite this afternoon, on the 3rd floor with a view towards West Bay, but more than happy with that as it’s a very busy weekend and nearly sold out tomorrow by the looks of things.

As mere Platinum these days I was offered points or $15 F & B credit, so obviously I took the latter! There was a small plate of very pretty chocolates and macaroons with a welcome card in the suite.

OH managed 4 glasses of red at wine hour, got to get value out of that $85 pn resort fee!

Thanks for the update and it sounds like a decent use of an upgrade voucher then!

I’m still a handful of nights short before our mid July trip so will shoehorn a few additional work trips in and hope there’s still availability by the time we get to T-14.

It seems there’s some other local bits opened up since the Indigo opened too – was there anything you’d recommend?

    Thanks again
