Forgive me if there’s an article on this (I searched and couldn’t see it), but what is the general consensus for where to credit BA avios/TP now that the new era has begun? Is there much difference between what you get for Iberia and Finnair?
Per year, I tend to fly a couple of long haul’s in premium economy, and a couple of long haul’s in business. Currently Silver BA.
Also, has anyone checked-in using their BA details (in order to make use of early seat selection), and then changed to credit either Iberia/Finnair while at the airport? Is this as simple as asking the desk staff at the BA lounge on the day of the flight?
Some videos on Youtube that might help. HfP have held back on analysing in order to bake in the BAPP tier point proposition. Though that’s 2500 TP max, and 2500TP is discounted by exchange rate alone in Club Iberia Plus.
The general thinking emerging on Youtube is Finnair rewards long journeys on non-Finnair flights. Iberia rewards expensive, short journeys on BA.
It’ll depend on one’s personal circumstances, but Finnair was the easy choice for me:
1. Gold-card giveaway upon reaching Platinum.
2. Fantastic English speakers when there are issues.
3. Lots of AY travel over the last 12 months.
Could have stuck with BA as I have met the (new) spending requirement every year for the last 3 years, but the Gold-card giveaway makes my wife’s life easier when travelling independently.
