Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Iberia Club Plus bonus exclusions

Trying to get my head around the new Iberia scheme. It says that basic economy fares are excluded from the additional bonus points (eg 75 elite points on short haul BA economy). Does basic economy refer to the ticket class only, or is this decided by the option chosen when booking? For example choosing the hand luggage only option I would expect to be basic. But I could pick the more expensive option with checked luggage and it could still give me a fare with a basic economy Fare class.

Basic economy refers to the fare classes indeed, no matter how many extra’s you add on top such as seats, pre-order meals or baggage. I believe A and O are the classes they use for eu short-haul basic economy. There is no way to see the fare class on Iberia, so you would have to check an OTA such as Expedia or call and ask for the fare class.

The same story goes for business optima.
