I have a Platinum Visa that doesn’t give me any points or bonuses (I never really use it anymore tbh), if I apply and get a Barclaycard Avios Plus card, would I be eligible for the bonus or am I excluded?
I thought you can’t hold more than one Barclaycard? You may be able to cancel and reapply after 6 months but read Rob’s articles about the cards and eligibility for SUBs first.
OP, as the previous poster says Barclaycard currently only allow you to have one card account unless you are grandfathered from old accounts when you were allowed to have more cards (both my wife and I have 2 Barclaycard each).
So you would have two options as it stand:
– you can change product within the App from Platinum to Avios, but you will only be eligible for a very small bonus (this would be worth doing if the Barclaycard account is particularly old and important for your credit file)
– you can cancel the current Barclaycard, wait 6 months and apply again. That will make you eligible for any full bonus they may run at the time
I did a product switch and got the full bonus, even though I wasn’t meant to. Their IT systems are terrible.
