I have upgraded my card from Reward to Reward Plus. My attempt to get a Reward Card + and a Reward Card had failed. My expectation was that I would get the introductory Bonus points but looking at my statement today that hasn’t happened. I have looked at the Terms and Conditions and it does say “This offer isn’t available to existing cardholders completing a product switch between Virgin Atlantic Credit Cards.”
This does seem to contradict the Head for the Points article (1st November) which says “SPECIAL OFFER: Until 18th November 2024, the bonus on the Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Mastercard is increased from 18,000 to 30,000 Virgin Points. You need to spend £3,000 within 90 days of opening your account. You can apply even if you already have the free Virgin Atlantic Reward Mastercard!”
I am assuming that the Head for Points article assumes that you have both. Its a subtle point but just in case anyone like me has assumed that an upgrade will result in a bonus, you will be disappointed. Or am I missing something perhaps.
So on the application page, scroll down, there are Ts and Cs.
If you click on the link for the Reward+ card, it states:
2. If you apply between the 21 October and 18 November 2024, we will also give you an additional 12,000 Virgin Points if you make purchases of at least £3,000 in total using your Reward+ Credit Card in the first 90 days. The £160 annual fee is not included in the £3,000 spend. To benefit make sure you link your Flying Club number to your Reward+ Credit Card by 16th February 2025. This offer isn’t available to existing cardholders completing a product switch between Virgin Atlantic Credit Cards.
Yes, the article implies you get both cards.

You upgraded, you didn’t get the cards separately which would have got you the two bonuses… there’s no contradiction here.
