The HSBC WE card has two benefits:
Welcome reward points
Receive 40,000 reward points when you spend £2,000 on your card in the first 90 days of card membership.
Anniversary reward points
Spend £12,000 or more on your card within your first 12 months of membership to receive a further 40,000 reward points at the anniversary of card membership.
I can’t find anything in the T&C about whether you will be eligible for this if you cancel a HSBC WE card and then open a new HSBC WE card at some point in the future.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to trigger the welcome bonus or anniversary bonus more than once?
As above, six months is the unwritten policy, but don’t necessarily expect them to welcome you back!
Yes. Unless it’s changed recently then their application and underwriting process is pretty manual and churning will be noticed for sure. They asked me more questions about transactions on my current account than Natwest did for my mortgage!
I recently downgraded to the free HSBC Premier Card. Will I be eligible for a new World Elite sign-up bonus after the 6m is up, or would I have to completely cancel first?
You need a six month gap again from either card potentially to be eligible for another (WE) SUB but as above, HSBC really does not like players such that another successful application, let alone another SUB is far from certain. It is also clear from so many people across many providers that a lot of applications are being rejected (or getting very low/useless limits) even from apparently well heeled customers. Times are changing so it may not be the right time to be too cute.

I have also recently “downgraded”, which is done with a manual, printed application that needs to be signed and sent back, interestingly it is a “upgrade” form. For what I gather from that form, if you upgrade back from Premier to Premier World Elite, you may be eligible for a sign up bonus, but would like to see if there is anyone on here that has such an experience?
