HSBC Premier World Elite slow application process

Hello,

I applied for this card last Monday and it took HSBC a full week to go through the approval process.
Finally I received a text on Wednesday saying that I had been approved and that I will receive an email to sign Ts&Cs before they can send my card.
2 days on and I still haven’t received an email, and when calling HSBC, they say it can take up to 48 hours.

This has got to be the slowest process to get a credit card I’ve ever had. Has anyone else encountered delays this like?

In my case it took a week before emailing terms. Very slow process indeed

Seems like they still manually underwrite the credit card, when I applied someone called and asked more questions about transactions on my current account than they did for my mortgage!!

Make sure you check the main thread for the traumas people have getting the bonuses and cancelling the damn thing 😬

I spoke to them yesterday and they said the email had been sent, so they are going to mark it as not received and send again, but that will only be done on Monday as they don’t work weekends.

I also got told I could go into a branch and they could print it off for me to sign and then to upload, so if don’t get anything by tomorrow afternoon, I’ll go to my local branch.

Such a slow and tedious process. I was annoyed when it took me 4 days to get my Amex platinum from point of application to delivery. That’s supersonic compared to this.

Just to provide another data point I applied on Friday and got approved instantly. I was able to add the card to ApplePay and use it immediately and had an email yesterday saying the card was on its way.

Oddly no email other than the one about the card being en route but otherwise seems to have gone smoothly so far. Hopefully that continues!

If it goes for manual review they clearly think you are borderline for acceptance…..

Finally got the card on Thursday after tings sped up.

I think the delay was due to be only recently opening the premier account and I also had a CIFAS marker on my credit file due to fraud from last year.

Quite disappointed that transactions don’t appear real time, tend to be a day or two until they appear

@Dan88 but you do get realtime notifications just a lag on appearing on the app
