Just got the world elite. Can you use the priority pass option at the restaurants that are part of priority pass (specifically at Manchester) and if so how do you do it considering you don’t get a physical PP card. Concerned if I show my actual credit ccard they’ll just charge it

Ask for the bill, then explain that you’ve a PP and are entitled to £15 discount.. If there server doesn’t understand just ask for the manager. They should be aware of it..

You still get a virtual PP card on your phone as normal. The restaurant will have a scanner just like in a lounge to scan the QR code.

I use this in LCY very regularly now, and just use the virtual card in the PP app, as it helpfully has the HSBC logo on it to make sure I’m using the right one. I keep my Amex PP in apple wallet (which does not include restaurants, but does get a free guest in lounges, so always have to try to use the right one).

    Thanks.

Starbucks and grain loft are only available in T1 at Manchester according to the PP app that is linked with the HSBC WE

After a few years gap, in Jan this year, I got the World Elite Mastercard again. It didn’t take long to spend £2k to earn the first 40k points bonus, but the points have not appeared in my account.

I called HSBC to complain but the lady on the helpdesk didn’t seem to know anything and she just promised to investigate.

At the same time I complained about the breakdown of the iPass contract, and again she just promised to investigate.

Has anyone else had similar problems recently, and any success in fixing them?

Stop Press: Miraculously the missing 40k points arrived in my account this morning!

I called the HSBC Premier helpline and they confirmed iPass was dead, and agreed to check up on compensation.

I’ve just applied for the HSBC Premier World Elite via the app. I had the card a few years ago but cancelled. When applying now I got a message saying I would get a message in 2 days… Does anyone have experience on when I can expect the card to show up? I am leaving the country in 7 days and wondering if I’ll receive the card before then.

Maybe by the time you are back from this trip, have planned and embarked on yet another future holiday at an indefinite point in time, and came back from that, then you might get the card. If you are lucky.

Jokes aside, these days applying via the APP (and afaik only then) it’s much more streamlined, but it still does take longer from what I’ve seen. If you do get the message with the forms to sign, which some people including me have struggled to receive, then from there it’s usually about a week to get the card.

Basically, I would not have high hopes, but YMMW.
Please do report back to us if you can once you get it.

Thanks for the information alma. I called Premier customer services and they told me they could see my application but I’d just have to wait the 2 days for a decision. I was told I could get the card delivered to a branch instead of my home address to speed things up although I don’t really know if I believe that.

Sounds like I’ll be leaving the country without it – maybe I’ll get family to forward the envelope to me abroad (I’m travelling for a while and need/want the lounge access).

Will report back once I have any updates.

@YH – you don’t need the physical HSBC card for lounge access. If your family member can give you the card details, you can set it up on the PP app (which they now use instead of LoungeKey). You could also set up the card on ApplePay this way if you want to use it abroad and it doesn’t arrive on time. Everything at HSBC works at glacial speed.

It would be an improvement for HSBC if you get a decision within 7 days!

Good shout, I’ll get PP set up on my phone along with Google Pay. I never use Apple/Google Pay, I much prefer having the physical card but this will have to do for now I guess!

Glad to hear it’s not just me at least. It’s the first time I’ve not been instantly accepted for a credit card! I’ll keep prodding them…

Any every got a retention offer on the WE elite card?

Except for the covid period, I do not think that retention offers were ever in consideration for the World Elite card

My iPass working fine. Around 4m ago it stopped working, and I emailed ipass and they said HSBC stopped the contract. Whinged at HSBC, and got a fee refund for the year.
Around a week later, got a reply back from iPass saying HSBC had just renewed and provided me with another activation code. Still working fine. I see it has disappeared from the HSBC website, so I might just be lucky though.

Does the fee for this card refundable? Like you can do with paid BA Amex, get a voucher and close a card with a refund

No refunds, am afraid…. They know better, it seems.

Saw that on the app, but now its disappeared and no trace of it on app or website. Even for a dummy Avios transfer it doesn’t show the bonus.

just blew 100 Avios, bonus didn’t work. Seems HSBC were too quick off the mark this time, and changed it.

Runs until 17 July 2024 according to the T&Cs document. Apparently the bonus Avios are awarded 14 days after redemption.
