How to select seats on Iberia (BA booking)

A week ago I booked on BA to fly Madrid to Santiago Chile on Iberia in Business, using my Am Ex 241.
However, I haven’t been able to select seats.
Neither the BA website nor the Iberia website allows me to select seats. (I am using the BA booking reference number).
Any suggestions?

You need the Iberia booking reference which is different. That said even with that sometimes it doesn’t work.

Try this

Use the BA website and go into the BA booking, then select seats. There should be an option to click through to the IB website then at the bottom left of the screen the IB reference should appear

Use that to access the booking on IB.

Is the flight in almost a year? Then Iberia will not have fixed the plane yet. In a few weeks the ability to select seats will become available.

Thanks all. Flight booked for February 2025 – so I will wait a while, then try again.

For me it works on the Iberia app every time straight after booking, nowhere else. It also recognises BA PNR which then translates into Iberia PNR when added. You do have to have Iberia account.

Depends when you book. Previous poster is correct, IB won’t release seat maps til 10-11 months before.

You can easily check if you should be able to book seats:
Try to book the flight on the Iberia site. At one of the last stages you are offered to book a seat. If the option is there, you should be able to select a seat for your real booking and there is a different problem. If the option is not there, you can’t. I just tried your route and you can only book seats until the end of January.

You could also try a seat alert on expertflyer.

I booked mine through the Iberia app about 11 months before for free. Do Iberia let you book for free on all business flights?

For me, it’s available on the app from 355 days before.
