How long before referral points post?

Hello,

I referred three people last week with my Gold Amex referral link. All three were accepted and one has received their card too. I haven’t seen the points posted into my account yet – how long does it normally take or should I be chasing with the Amex team?

You could register your complaint on the awful and totally exasperating Amex Chat service, but don’t expect anything other than the “wait 90 days” quote after at least 20 minutes of wasting your time.
Or you could call, same answer but a lot quicker and much less stressful

To be fair, my AMEX referral bonuses have been pretty quick recently. Under a week..

I’ve referred someone who got accepted today. Their card should arrive within 7 days but not sure on the criteria for the Gold card. I’ll update if I get an email or the points post within a week.

Upon checking my account today, I’ve got the bonus 16,000 MR points added to my account and when viewing activity and rewards, it’s labelled “Referral Bonus”.

I know some people have gotten emails but I’ve not received one yet – probably will do later today or tomorrow.

If you ever contact Amex, they will say it can take 8-12 weeks but in reality its much faster than that. Quite often I get my points the next day, but I did a referral this week and it took about 3 days to post.

I also signed up to a card using my friend’s referral (we referred each other), and he got the points the next day.

Once I got an email to say someone used my referral, but mostly they don’t tell you.

If I refer someoene from Gold or BAPP to even Nectar how do I know how many points I will get?
They are starting at Nectar & going down the list. Guessing I can refer them for the whole journey

What you get is unchanged, of they follow your referral link and they pick any of the card available through the link you get the same amount of MR or Avios, so just pick the one that has the highest offer in your account.

I have referred from my platinum account three people in the last few months and the bonus posted on my account within 24hr of them
Being approved.

I can confirm that none of them ended up getting a platinum but I still got the full bonus .

Another thing to note, there’s currently an offer for bonus points to add your first supplementary cards, and depending on the card, a spend target on the card too.

So whoever you refer, tell them to add those cards using the link online after they have received their own cards.

Thank you everyone. I hassled the Amex chat people and they told me it’d take up to 90 days. Points then posted a day later.
