As many of you may know, an almost go-to response from any
SQ redemption search is “Waitlisted”, with no mention of how
long this might be for/likelihood of success.I tracked a Beijing-Singapore flight for our upcoming Asia trip:
all flights suddenly became available in economy for every flight exactly 8 weeks
before the departure date (having checked this at least weekly over the previous 6 months).In addition, the cash price constantly varied, with the sweet spot
actually being about 4-5 weeks before departure (even when compared to
6 months earlier).In a major plot twist, the PE price dropped dramatically (50%+) just 3
weeks before departure, so I ended up getting PE o/w for GBP 290, which I
was more than happy with.I guess the moral of the story is that the Waitlist may well come through
if you’re prepared to wait!!Thanks Michael.
Given that most readers here would be interested in UK/Europe to SIN route, curious to know if we see such changes on other routes.
The biggest advantage for those in UK is the addition of LGW flight – no idea how long it can be sustained, here’s hoping there’s more availability in the future.Thanks Michael.

Maybe the curve is on the way back down (he said, hopefully)?!
