On the basis of the recently announced forthcoming (though no exact UK rollout date yet) massive devluation of Hotels.com Rewards as discussed in the recent HfP article https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/03/29/hotels-com-rewards-gutted-one-key what does everyone propose is the most sensible way to book independent hotels going forward? Rocketmiles / booking.com via BA Exec Rewards for earning Avios?

Annoyingly I recently made a lot of (pre-announcement) bookings for a 15 night trip to Canada in January 2024 with hotels.com via BA Exec Rewards with a view to earning both the reward nights and avios. They are all refundable bookings but some of the rates have now gone up if I was to cancel and rebook elsewhere. I understand from the HfP post that existing reward nights and already-earnt stamps will have their value locked on but I am concerned that the devaluation will very likely happen before January so I will only get the measly 2% OneKey cashback on these future bookings rather than the reward night stamps. Interested to hear people’s thoughts on whether I should cancel and try my luck elsewhere or just cut my losses for these bookings but just cease to book any new stays via hotels.com from now on?
