Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Holiday Inn late check in

  • 120 posts

    Hi.
I will be staying in a holiday inn express Amsterdam for 1 night.
I will probably only arrive at night. Do I need to inform the hotel about late check in? and best way to?

I may check out early. Do I need to worry about an early departure fee mentioned on the website?

    Many thanks,

I would definitely be contacting them about the late arrival, just in case. Think you can do this in the app?

If you’re departing on the check out day (which I presume you are as it’s only 1 night) then any time is fine.

You can set “late arrival” in your stay preferences on the IHG website/app.

If you are arriving after midnight/1am or so, it is wise to call/email the hotel in advance because the hotel may have run its night audit and marked you as a no-show. This means it may take longer to check in if they need to reverse the no show. Also they may have resold your room in an overbooked or high occupancy situation. The door may be locked and the night manager may have gone wandering around to check on something too, so you may be waiting outside for a while and/or it may look like a ghost hotel.

You don’t need to check out of an HIX, just leave. Unless for some reason you didn’t pay on arrival. Early departure fee only applies if you want to cancel some nights of your stay, and not pay for them.
